So often with makeup, you’re never sure if a color or shade is right for you until you try it on, which can be difficult when buying cosmetics online. A new app is hoping to make it easier by providing a virtual makeup mirror that allows you to check out brands available in your home country. Chinese app company Meitu used its AR technology to build Makeup Plus, which lets users see themselves in different shades of lipstick and more.
Once you tell the app where you are located and take a selfie, you can try out items that you can buy in real life. For example, users in the U.S. can try on shades from Clinique, Pixel, Stila and other popular brands. If you want to go international with your options, simply change the country. Several big names have signed on to work with the app, including Bobbi Brown, Lancome, Clinique and YSL.
